Education
Dr. Chen grew up in Southern California, graduated from UCLA with cum laude honors, and afterwards, attained a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from USC. Dr. Chen earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from USC, graduating third in a class of 124 dental students. He was honored with the Everitt V. Payne Memorial Award and membership into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honorary dental fraternity.
Following two years of private practice in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Chen chose to further his interest in orthodontics by entering the University of Colorado Specialty Residency in 2005. Trained under respected leaders in the orthodontic profession, he attained great proficiency in the newest techniques, such as Invisalign®, clear and self-ligating brackets, Damon™ Smile, and temporary anchorage devices. He graduated with the Co-Outstanding Resident Award. He also obtained prestigious board certification status for the years 2007-2012.
Dr. Chen also avidly attends various lectures and orthodontic seminars to update his knowledge and incorporate the latest advancements in treatment methodology and technology into the practice.

Outside the Office
Dr. Chen lives in Bakersfield with his wife Trisha and his daughter and son, Lana and James. Outside of the office, he enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as golfing, cycling, skiing, swimming, and hiking. He also enjoys baking with his daughter, bike riding around the neighborhood with his kids, working on computers, and learning new skills. In addition to English, he is fluent in Chinese and Taiwanese.
